Update From The Boardroom

A message from the Board of Directors:

As we rapidly approach the end of the season, we want to say a massive thanks to all of the fans and sponsors who have supported The Shots this season.

Whilst in one breath we are all delighted that we have secured our place in next year’s Vanarama National League, nobody on the terraces, dressing room or in the Boardroom are happy that we found ourselves in another survival scrap. Both the quality of football and our results – especially at the Electrical Services Stadium – have, on too many occasions, not been good enough

That said, we’re sure you would join us in thanking Chris Barker and Matt Gray for the turnaround they have achieved since stepping into the hot-seat back in January – well done! Hopefully we can really kick on in our remaining games and show just what might have been.

Off the field, we’ve been working hard to ensure the Club operates on a secure financial footing, and we are pleased to report that this is now the case. We know how painful it was for supporters to see the Club you love teetering on the brink again, in 2013, which is why we have always taken clear actions to ensure our financial plans will deliver long-term sustainability for the Club. Like you, we want to see the Club back in the Football League, but we’ve got to deliver that in a financially secure way.

Yet again rumours abound that up to three Conference club are in grave financial difficulties, with the possibility, as last year, of some severe penalties being imposed. It’s not good for the game, but equally it’s unfair that club’s field teams they can’t afford. Make no mistake, financial viability is a huge challenge, and can only be achieved thanks to the support we get from our sponsors and fans. We need everyone who really cares about our Club to pull in the same direction.

As you know, we have invited a number of supporters to join members of the Board as their guest at recent games. They have provided a great opportunity for us to hear your thoughts and ideas on how we can move the Club forward, and also how we can work more closely with you to reignite the pride and passion that has long been associated with being a Shots supporter.

First and foremost that starts on the pitch and, looking ahead to next season, we are all determined to push forward and deliver entertaining, attacking football that keeps supporters coming back for more. The objective is clear – we should be challenging for the Play-Offs.

Thanks again for your support and here’s to next season.

Up The Shots!
