Shots Sign Elokobi

Aldershot Town have signed former Premier League defender George Elokobi on a deal until the end of the season following his release by Leyton Orient.

The Cameroonian defender played 58 times in the Premier League for Wolverhampton Wanderers, totalling 103 games and 4 goals for Wolves, including a famous goal in a 2-1 win over Manchester United at Molineux.

The 33-year old began his career at Dulwich Hamlet before he was scouted by Colchester United in 2004, he joined Wolves in 2008 where he stayed for six years before joining Oldham Athletic and then back to Colchester a year later.

He joined Leyton Orient following their relegation to the National League in 2017 and was released by the O’s at the end of January 2019 after making 28 appearances and scoring 4 goals, including one against the Shots in our 3-2 win at Brisbane Road last season. He has also played for Chester City, Nottingham Forest, Bristol City and Braintree Town in loan moves throughout his career.

We’d like to thank all the fans who have contributed to the Golden Ticket fundraiser so far to assist with this signing and the signings of Gerry McDonagh, John Goddard, Bernard Mensah and Rollin Menayese so far.

George will wear the number 6 shirt and if you wish to sponsor his home and away shirt then please contact Mark Butler on 01252320211 or mark.butler@theshots.co.uk.

He is available for selection for tonight’s game against Solihull Moors.

Welcome to Aldershot, George!
