Shots Foundation Vice Chair Paul Marcus spoke to Shots Foundation Lead Coordinator Jamie MacAllister about the work being done with our local schools at after school clubs and holiday camps – you can watch their chat HERE

AFTER SCHOOL SESSIONS

Our after school sessions are run by FA Qualified, and experienced coaches from 3:30pm-4:30pm.

In the autumn term we worked with over 150 young children in primary schools. Our schools programme aims to keep children active, promote their enjoyment in sport, and enhance the skills learnt through participation in sport.

We have seen such great progress and hard work over the past few months and we are very proud of our young footballers!

We have had great feedback this term just gone with 91% of our young footballers, and their parents, saying they would send their children to a Shots Foundation after-school club.

The schools we are currently running after school sessions at are:

  • Talavera Junior School
  • St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School
  • Waverley Abbey Junior School
  • Hale Primary School
  • Dogmersfield COE School
  • Wellington Community Primary School

If your child attends one of these schools, and would like more information, or if you are part of a school that would like to benefit from these after-school clubs, please contact jamie.macallister@shotsfoundation.org.

HOLIDAY CAMPS

We aim to run holiday camps in the half-term and term holidays throughout the school year. The camps last from 10am-3pm and we work on a variety of skills, including but not limited to:

  • Defending
  • Attacking
  • Passing
  • Dribbling
  • Teamwork
  • Speed & Strength

Whilst we like to develop their football skills, the days are always centred around having fun, and keeping the children safe. Our team of first-aid qualified, and FA qualified coaches ensure that all children are looked after, and have a good time.

Our last Summer Holiday camp ran at the end of July 2023, where we welcomed over 50 young footballers across the week. They were delighted with the visit of first team manager Tommy Widdrington, and his assistant coach Hugo Langton on the Monday. Tommy said, “It was great to come visit the holiday camp and see all the future footballers we have on our hands. Seeing them having such a good time really shows you the importance of the work we do in our community.” This was followed with appearances from first team professionals Ollie Harfield, Alex MacAllister, Maxwell Mullins and Ryan Glover throughout the rest of the week!

In the February half-term just passed, we ran two football day camps both of which were sold out! Our young footballers were treated to a visit from Aldershot Town FC stars Lorent Tolaj, and Joshua Stokes. All our footballers were gifted a matchday programme and a fixture list for them to choose when they can attend a fixture at the EBB through the Community Stand Scheme!

Our holiday camps are highly rated as 97% of our holiday camp footballers enjoyed their time with us! See below for the confirmed holiday camp dates to come and also those almost confirmed!
