Persimmon Homes Fund Seats For Soldiers

Aldershot Town host the second Seats For Soldiers day this Saturday, as Persimmon Homes donate 500 tickets to Garrison personnel and their families to attend the Vanarama Conference fixture against Nuneaton Town.

As the closest home game to Armistice Day, the Club wanted to follow the poignant ceremony which preceded Sunday’s FA Cup tie at Portsmouth with its own fitting tribute to Aldershot’s Armed Forces.

Both The Shots and Nuneaton Town, along with Persimmon Homes, are signatories of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant, which expresses support for the Armed Forces.

One of the UK’s leading house builders, Persimmon build around 12,000 new homes a year in more than 400 prime locations nationwide. Founded in 1972 in York, Persimmon build quality homes across the UK.

An MOD-approved employer, as part of their commitment to the Covenant they work in partnership with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), Recovery Career Services (RCS), the Future Horizons Programme (FHP) and Support for Britain’s Reservists and Employers (SaBRE). Persimmon’s ‘Combat to Construction’ initiative has also helped former Armed Forces personnel to find new careers as site managers, sales advisors, bricklayers, joiners, groundworkers, forklift truck drivers, Health and Safety advisors and in a host of administrative roles.

Persimmon offer a dedicated FREE service to members of the Armed Forceslooking to buy their own new home in the UK. The service helps military personnel to obtain a mortgage whilst based overseas or serving on a BFPO address; offers help and advice on using Forces Help to Buy (FHTB); gives help with key worker applications for government funding; and provides access to solicitors who are familiar with overseas-based clients and have proven expertise in the use of Power of Attorney.

The principles of the Covenant dictate that no member of the Armed Forces Community should face disadvantage in the provision of public and commercial services, and in some circumstances may receive special treatment. Aldershot Town strive to support the employment of both veterans and Service spouses, offer a degree of flexibility in granting leave for Service spouses and partners, and support employees who choose to be members of the Reserve Forces. We will also support local cadets, in the local community and local schools.
