The Aldershot Town Academy Development Centre is designed to aid player development for all players within the local community, whether they are playing at a club, or new to the game.
We provide a training pathway from under 8s to under 16s. Our development programme offers young people of any ability, as well as those with potential, an opportunity to receive a high-quality football experience, enabling them to improve in a player-centred environment.
These sessions act as a great addition for anyone looking for extra training alongside their grassroots football team, or as an introduction to playing football. Training sessions are focused on technical, tactical and social development, and are designed to challenge and stretch every player’s current skill level.
The Development Centre is a precursor to our Academy sides for those looking to make the move to academy football or just need a little more space and time to develop their fundamental skills, these sessions are great alongside existing club football.
We run three different sessions within the development centre, each grouped by age ranges that mirror our Academy structure. The first are sessions for those in the under 8 to under 11 age groups, the second is for those in the under 12s to under 14s age groups, and the final session is for those who are under 15, or under 16.
Training with the Development Centre takes place once a week at Tomlinscote School, Frimley from 5:00pm – 6:30pm for all age groups. The sessions will be delivered by FA Qualified Coaches, who will work in line with Aldershot Town training programme. We want to make sure that we challenge the players to develop key technical aspects such as:
- Learning how to be a ‘master’ of the ball
- Show bravery in wanting and taking the ball
- Build confidence in 1v1 situations
- Are comfortable receiving the ball on both the front foot and back foot
- As well as growing ‘game understanding’
