ONE GAME ONE COMMUNITY: A summary of the evening’s events

Aldershot Town FC held its first One Game, One Community event last night, Sunday 10th October, with Fans For Diversity and Kick It Out bringing together stakeholders, fans and the community to enjoy an evening of celebration, topical conversation, networking, great food followed by an invigorating Panel discussion/ Q&A.

Working in partnership with The Football Supporters Association, Kick It Out, Aldershot Town FC, UK Nepal Friendship Society and the OCHD (One Community Hampshire & Dorset) Aldershot Town FC used the power of football and its position in the surrounding communities aimed to deliver positive change and to bring people together. There are many challenges in the UK about diversity and inclusion and our ‘One game One Community event highlighted how together we can influence a positive future where stadiums around the country reflect the cities and towns in which they sit.

Over 100 people attended our event in what was a great evening capped off by an excellent panel discussion hosted by Anwar Uddin, and a Q&A session consisting of:

  • Tony Burnett, CEO at Kick It Out
  • Parminder Saini, Barrister and US Attorney
  • Mazair Kouhyar, Hereford FC & Afghanistan International
  • Manisha Tailor, Assistant Head of Coaching at QPR
  • Adam Robson Dedicated Football Office, Hampshire Constabulary

We extend a special thank you to Amanda, Kay and Bob for all their hard work for making the event run smoothly. Watch this space for more information as we plan our next event.
