NEW SIGNING: Will Nightingale

We’re excited to announce the signing of central defender Will Nightingale!

The 30-year-old joins the club as a free agent, having left AFC Wimbledon in June following two seasons on loan with Ross County in the Scottish Premiership.

Nightingale joined the Wombles at the age of nine, just two years after the phoenix club’s formation. Rising through the academy, he would eventually make his league debut for the side in January 2015, and would go on to make over 200 appearances for the Dons, 175 of which coming in the Football League.

Such was the defender’s impact and longevity at the club, on June 1st, following the announcement of his departure, Wimbledon hosted a testimonial to honour his services, with former teammates such as Barry Fuller, Paul Robinson and Adebayo Akinfenwa kitting up once more to show their respects to his tenure.

Leaving one phoenix club for another, Will Nightingale brings a wealth of Football League experience to Tommy Widdrington’s back-line, and is a most welcome addition in North Hampshire.

“The squad has obviously been depleted in options with the injuries we’ve had so I’m delighted to be able to get Will through the door.”

“Will’s experience in the game speaks for itself and we feel he’ll be a brilliant fit in with our group whilst also helping our ambitions on the pitch.”

“I’d like to thank the board for their backing in being able to get this deal done and I’m sure whilst some of you may have seen him at the Open Day this morning, the rest of you will give him a warm welcome to the Shots!”

Welcome to the Shots, Will!
