WHO ARE THE SHOTS PLAYING?

Following a 5-2 victory at the EBB last time out the Shots take their talents on the road for the first time in the 2023/24 season. A 200+ mile trip awaits Tommy Widdrington’s side as Aldershot take on Oldham at Boundary Park this Saturday.

The Latics are looking for their first win in their first home game this campaign, having lost 4-0 to Southend United on the opening day last weekend.

HOW DID THEY DO LAST SEASON?

Oldham ended the season in the middle of the National League, picking up 61 points and 16 wins to end the season in 12th place. 61 points was 8 points better off than the Shots when the final whistle was blown at the end of last season, and was 6 places higher than the Shots 18th placed finish.

Oldham progressed past their first games in both FA competitions, beating Chester in an FA Cup replay on penalties before being knocked out by eventual National League champions Wrexham. Oldham were again beaten by National League opposition in the FA Trophy, beating Peterborough Sports before losing to Gateshead.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS:

The Shots last trip to Oldham ended in crushing fashion, as Hallam Hope scored in the 95th minute to give the Latics a 2-1 win. Dan Gardner had previously been on the scoresheet for Oldham, and Justin Amaluzor grabbed the Shots only goal. The reverse fixture at the EBB saw the sides share the points, with Inih Effiong getting in the goals for Aldershot on that occasion.
