As mentioned in their interviews, the progress being made is very encouraging and whilst we can’t expect to see either Maghoma or O’Keefe, or Hady Ghandour who is also currently facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines, back on the pitch in the near future, all of their recoveries are stepping up as they recover from their surgeries.

Christian Maghoma suffered an achilles rupture just 20 minutes into his first action in a Shots shirt. He underwent surgery with one of the most esteemed achilles specialists in Britain who helped with Virgil Van Dijk’s recovery and has worked with top Premier League clubs. Christian’s protective boot has now been removed and he is beginning work on his walking arch as he steps up the intensity of his rehabillitation!

Stuart O’Keefe suffered a knee injury, tearing his MCL, early into the 23/24 season. The Shots captain also underwent surgery with a top surgeon and has also shown fantastic early signs of recovery. Stuart’s spell on the sidelines will be shorter than Christian’s but he is positive ahead of stepping up his rehabilitation program.

Hady Ghandour suffered a hamstring tear just minutes into making his return from a spell on the sidelines in the Vanarama National League game against Wealdstone. We were unable to catch up with Hady on camera but Liam mentions in his interview that the early signs after Hady’s surgery are very positive and his determination and positivity have been excellent as he begins his road to recovery.

We’d like to thank the surgeons and specialists that have made sure Christian, Stuart and Hady’s recoveries have started in the best way possible and to all those involved in the planning and executing of the rehabilitation programs the players are now receiving.

We’d also like to take the opportunity to thank Simply Oxygen again for the Hyperbaric Chamber we have received as part of our partnership with the firm. All three of the mentioned players have utilised the chamber to aid their recoveries and as Liam Charles mentions in his interview, it’s also been a brilliant tool to aid player recovery during what has been a tough early-season schedule for The Shots.
