The following is a statement from Club Chairman Shahid Azeem:
As I promised in my update before Christmas, I’m going to be sharing regular updates about the development work we hope to undertake in and around the ground. This month I want to take the opportunity to set out what will be happening over the coming weeks and months.
As you know, we are undertaking this development work for two key reasons: first and foremost, we want to secure the club’s long-term future. Generating more income means we can invest in our ground, and we can invest in our team. Results on the pitch are what matters most to all of us. And investing in our team is critical. Beyond that, we want to improve the experience that you have when you come to the ground because you deserve a great match day experience.
We have been busy over the last few weeks. We’ve had extensive discussions with Rushmoor Borough Council about what the Club needs and what the town needs to make sure that we’re working to shared goals and all the meetings have been positive. We’ve also undertaken detailed surveys of the area around the ground, and transport needs, along with ecology which is being carried out this week- all are critical parts of the planning process.
We have recently appointed Holmes Miller as the architect to develop the options for our stadium. This is a really exciting moment, because they will help us turn our ambitions into tangible plans that can be delivered.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be having more conversations with Rushmoor Borough Council to understand what they want to see from the development and how we can make that happen.
Holmes Miller will start to develop their ideas ready to share with you from early Spring.
This is your club, and your views will be critical to the success of our ultimate plans. In my next update, we’ll be sharing details of how and when you’ll be able to have your say about what our stadium needs.
