CLUB AND SHOTS FOUNDATION MARKING 80th ANNIVERSARY OF VE DAY

This week marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe, a day that signalled the end of World War Two in Europe. On May 8, 1945, there was joy across Europe as nations celebrated the courage, determination, and unity that brought the war to an end. This week, we honour that spirit — and the generations who made unimaginable sacrifices to secure a better future for us all.

To mark this, today we welcome a large number of military supporters who are attending for free through the Shots Foundation’s Community Stand Scheme. Thank you all for your service, and we hope you enjoy the game. You will also see some VE Day themed flags, bunting around the EBB and up in the lounges. Later on this week, on May 8th, the Foundation are hosting a VE Day Celebration here at the EBB, if you are a Veteran, or still serving, and want to attend, please contact kay.khan@shotsfoundation.org.

We are also welcoming two men’s health charities this afternoon, Andys Man Club, and the Prostate Project. The Shots Foundation together with Andys Man Club run weekly group-based sessions here at the EBB for men over the age of 18 as we continue to work towards breaking down the mental health stigma. This afternoon you’ll see an Andys Man Club stall behind the main stand, so stop and say hello!

The Prostate Project are here this afternoon in the ‘Man Van’ to help raise awareness of prostate cancer. The Prostate Project are a registered charity in the UK who have a number of aims, including raising awareness, particularly amongst men, of the existence of prostate cancer, its symptoms and its potential adverse effect. Go chat to them this afternoon and help them spread awareness.
