CELEBRATION MATCH: British Army v Camberley Town

The Aldershot DFA will be hosting a match between the British Army and Camberley Town as part of their 125th Celebration Match. The game will be played at the Aldershot Military Stadium at 7:45pm on Wednesday 19th February 2020.

As part of the celebrations of the Aldershot Divisional Football Association’s 125th Anniversary, the Army Mens Representative Team will be hosting the current holders of the Senior Cup, Camberley Town from the Combined Counties League Premier Division.

A collection will be taken during the game from which Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and the Royal British Legion will benefit greatly. A match programme will also be produced.

A shield is presented to the winning team alongside medals for both squads and match officials who will be appointed by the Aldershot DFA.

Aldershot Town’s Shahid Azeem, Danny Searle and Terry Owens attended the 125 Anniversary Dinner which was held at the EBB Stadium back in August. The official guests were former Shots players/managers Terry Brown, Darren Barnard, Colin Fielder and Mark Butler who were all invited on stage where we covered their careers. The Army FA were immensely proud to be part of the Anniversary Dinner to commence the celebrations.

Army FA’s Graham Brookland were also proud to provide their perspective and thoughts on the fixture:

“The Army FA is proud to have been invited to be involved in such a prestigious occasion. The 125th anniversary of the Aldershot DFA is a significant achievement.

“The Army FA, based in Aldershot since 1888, played a huge role in the inception of the association in 1894 and the two organisations have always had a strong working relationship.

“Indeed from 1904 through to the end of National Service Army teams dominated the Aldershot Senior Cup.

“We are sure it will be a successful evening fitting to commemorate the hard work that the Aldershot DFA continues to do within the locality.”

We hope to see as many of you Shots fans down there as possible to continue the fantastic support you have given us all season.
