Baxi offers a wide range of gas boilers with a model and output to cope with all your heating and hot waterrequirements. Everyproduct is backed by Baxi Customer Support, their award-winning customer service division.
All Baxi gas boilers meet and exceed the latest European standards for safety, energy efficiency, emissions and water bylaws.
Born in 1825, ironmoulder Richard Baxendale began the company in 1866. A controllable underfloor draught system for solid fuel heating, launched in 1935, was the first product to bear the Baxi name.
Throughout the 1950s the firm became increasingly focused on the domestic heating sector, and Baxi became a familiar household name. Philip Baxendale, great grandson of Richard Baxendale, became General Manager of the Albert Street Works in Chorley in 1955. The company employed just 55 people.
In 1963 Baxi developed a warm-air central heating technology fuelled by gas, and in 1965 cash profit sharing for the workforce was introduced, demonstrating the forward-looking vision of the company and its management. Baxi launched its most famous product in 1966, the space saving Bermuda gas fired back boiler. More efficient versions are in the product portfolio today, and this product remains well loved by many households throughout the UK.
Philip Baxendale sold the company to the workforce in 1983 at a fraction of its true worth, thus forming the largest employee partnership of its kind in the country. Throughout the 1980s Baxi continued to develop and innovate, and in 1989 produced the Baxi Solo, a low weight cast iron boiler, suitable for one man to lift while installing.
In the 1990s Baxi began acquiring a number of European companies, culminating with the purchase of Ocean Idroclima and the Blue Circle Heating Division in 1999. In 2001, the Baxi 105 E became the biggest-selling combination boiler in the UK. The award-winning Baxi Duo-tec Combi HE was launched in 2006 and was awarded the Which? Best Buy and won the 2008 CORGI Boiler of the Year. The UK’s first domestic wall-hung micro-CHP appliance, Baxi Ecogen, was launched in 2010, and won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation in 2012.
Today Baxi is part of BDR Thermea, one of the largest boiler manufacturers in Europe. Baxi continues its commitment to innovate with a product portfolio that includes award winning boilers and a large range of renewable technologies.
