Shots Bid To Ride Into The Record Books!

Aldershot Town players, management and office staff all got on their bikes this afternoon to help Aspire Defence Services in a Guinness World Record attempt in aid of Children in Need.

The event, at Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre, runs from midday on Thursday to midday on Friday to set a new record for Most Electrical Energy Produced by Pedalling on Static Bicycles for 24 Hours.

Every member of Gary Waddock’s playing squad, plus 17 club staff and Chairman Shahid Azeem, all took their turn in cycling for 30 minutes on the special bikes, provided by British Cycling, to help push towards the target of 72,400 watts.

The attempt continues overnight, with 30-minute slots available for people to take part, or buckets on hand for spectators to donate to Children in Need.

Donations can also be made via the Centre’s JustGiving page or by texting CINA72 and your amount to 70070.

Organised by the Garrison Sports Centre and its managers Aspire Defence Services Limited, interested supporters should contact Mike Barnett via mike.barnett@aspiredefence.co.uk or call 01252 347724 or 0845 129 3153. The event is open to anyone over the age of 16.
