Aldershot Town Football Club are pleased to announce our intention to run a senior women’s team from the start of the 2025-2026 season.
Work will soon start on laying the foundations for creating a women’s senior team to represent the club next season. The process will begin in November as we hold our first set of trials, with the aim to play our first friendly fixture later that month Regular training sessions will be commencing in early 2025 as we gear up for a full launch for pre-season of the 2025-2026 season.
The addition of a women’s team also provides a pathway for our Academy under 18s girls to remain with the club and progress to senior football, and provide opportunities for female footballers in the local area to represent the Shots and play under the iconic Phoenix badge.
Club Chairman, Shahid Azeem, notes the important step this is in the clubs wider progression and development:
“Over recent seasons we have worked to create a girls academy and to provide high level football for young girls in the local area. We currently have teams at under 15s, under 16s and under 18s, with aspirations to continue to grow this pathway to under 14s and below.”
“What we want to do now is make sure that the girls we have in our academy have somewhere they can progress to, once they finish under 18s football, as well as give female footballers in the area the chance to play for one of the biggest, and most historic clubs in the area. A senior women’s team is therefore an important step for the club and its development.”
Trials will be taking place for the Women’s Team on Thursday 7th November at Samuel Cody School, Ballantyne Road, Farnborough, GU14 8SN from 5:30pm to 6:30pm, with registration taking place from 5:10pm.
