Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Edinburgh, came to Aldershot earlier this week, where she was greeted by Club Chairman, Shahid Azeem, to visit The Lighthouse in Aldershot to officially open the charity’s latest hub, which supports those in need. A Patron of the organization, the Duchess first became involved with the charity in 2020 and has since devoted much of her time volunteering at The Lighthouse.
The Duchess is also a patron for Disability Initiative, based in Camberley, of which our Club Chairman is also a an Ambassador.
The Club is excited to begin working further with the Lighthouse, through our Foundation.
During her visit, Her Royal Highness was also presented an Aldershot Town FC Home shirt, to mark the Town’s historic upcoming first visit to Wembley Stadium in 99 years, to take part in the Isuzu FA Trophy Final on May 11.
As a Patron of the Fijian Army, the Duchess has close ties to the Town’s military background. Her Royal Highness wishes Aldershot Town FC, and it’s 17,000 travelling fans (and rising) the very best of luck.
As the first Club to gain Gold Award holder status of the Military Covenant, and with VE Day approaching on May 8, Aldershot Town FC continues to be a proud promoter of our Armed Services.
