WELCOMING NICK HAYES

Aldershot Town are delighted to announce the signing of Goalkeeper Nick Hayes, who joins the club after having most recently played for Hartlepool United.

The 27-year-old has an incredibly impressive CV at National League level, accruing 102 National League appearances across spells with Southend United, Solihull Moors, Barnet and Hartlepool United, reaching the play-off final on two occasions with the former pair.

Hayes is also a former England U17 international, having made three appearances for the young lions in 2015, sharing a pitch with the likes of Kai Havertz, Diogo Dalot and Rafael Leao.

While always inevitable, manager Scott Davies is delighted to get his first-choice keeper through the door, having this to say about his new shot stopper:

“Hayes is a huge coup for us as a football club. Having played in a National League play-off final only a few years ago, he joins us with great experience.

“At 27, we believe he’s reaching the prime years of his career and fully believe that we have a standout goalkeeper within the division.

“When speaking to Dave Smalley on the possibility of keepers that were available, Dave reacted in no time at all and said ‘Hayesy’ which speaks volumes about him as a keeper and a human being.

“This was a vital area that we have been waiting to cover off and we are more than delighted that Hayesy has chosen us over other clubs in the division.”

Standing at 6ft 5″, Hayes will be difficult to miss between the sticks at the EBB this season, but until then, we wish our new number one a smooth settling in period. From everyone at the Shots, welcome Nick!
