WELCOME MARK JONES

In addition to yesterday’s appointment, we are delighted to announce Mark Jones as the club’s assistant manager.

Having agreed to join as Scott Davies’ number two ahead of the 2026-27 season, ‘Jonah’ arrives boasting a decorated CV in first-team management. Appointed academy manager of Stevenage in 2010 aged just 31, Mark has since undertaken a variety of roles over the past 15 years including permanent spells as head coach at Oxford City, Hemel Hempstead and Banbury United.

In 2017 Jones guided Oxford City to the Second Round of the FA Cup, producing a famous 1-0 victory at Colchester United, before narrowly losing 3-2 to Notts County, undone only by a 95th winner at Meadow Lane.

The pair met professionally in 2016 where Jones’ first foray into first-team management coincided with Davies’ year-long spell at the Hoops, with the hierarchy between the two now flipping a decade on. While yet to meet in opposing dugouts, Jones’ Hemel Hempstead side defeated Slough 2-0 in October 2022, just one month before his Davies’ promotion to player-coach.

Davies himself had this to say.

I’m delighted to bring Mark Jones (Jonah) in as assistant manager. Jonah and I have worked together at Oxford City whilst he was my manager and is someone that I can trust wholeheartedly.

I know that with his experience in coaching, he will be able to deliver exactly what is required in order to get the best out of the squad that we build.

He comes with a wealth of experience in the game and will be perfect for me in my first role as a full-time manager.”

Just as with Scott, everyone at Aldershot Town would like to extend our warmest welcome to Mark, and look forward to his contribution during his time with the Shots.
