Welcome: Jacob Borgnis

Aldershot Town are pleased to announce the signing of Jacob Borgnis.

Hailing from New Zealand, the defensive midfielder is the first from his nation to sign for the Shots having joined from Reading FC where he began his footballing career. The EBB will be his first permanent home away from his boyhood club and we’re sure he will relish the opportunity to impress the fans and associate himself with all things Aldershot.

Jacob enjoyed a very successful loan period at Slough, where he linked up with Shots’ boss Scott Davies for the first time, creating a memorable impression that earned him a spot alongside the new manager at the EBB. Jacob made 19 appearances for Slough which he will look to continue with a consistent run of games this season.

Bringing a calm nature and strong technical ability on the ball, the addition of Jacob to the Shots’ midfield is one to look forward to and we can’t wait to see what he can do.

Scott Davies has this to say” I’m really pleased to have Borgy with us. He was outstanding for me last season when on loan from Reading. At 21, he’s only going to get better at his craft and that excites me. He’s a fully committed type of midfielder, one that’ll fly into a tackle or two whilst also being able to use the ball productively.

He’s a brilliant character off the pitch too which is just as important for the environment in which we want to create”.

On behalf of everyone at the club we would like to welcome Jacob as he settles into life at Aldershot Town!
