WELCOME: JACK MATTON

Aldershot Town are delighted to announce the signing of central defender Jack Matton, who joins on a season-long loan from Wycombe Wanderers.

Having turned 20 at the end of May, Jack exits his teenage years having already accrued an excellent variety of experience, from previous non-league loans to first-team minutes with the League One club.

Matton joined the Chairboys in July 2024 after making a name for himself during an impressive, dual-registered season with Woking U23s and Binfield that earned him a call-up to England Schoolboys in 2023, captaining his country on numerous occasions.

Matton has since enjoyed further temporary spells at Bracknell Town, Hanwell Town and Tonbridge Angels, occurring either side of a dream first-team debut for his parent club in the EFL Trophy, claiming a goal and a clean sheet during a 3-0 victory against Gillingham in November.

Matton’s most recent competitive appearance marked another personal milestone, appearing in the Bucks-based side’s final League One fixture against Rotherham United.

Matton arrives at the EBB Stadium in pursuit of further first-team minutes in professional football, with Scott Davies having the following to say about his new defender:

“Jack is held in such high regard by his parent club Wycombe so to get him on loan with us is a great bit of business.

“He’s had really good experience at a few other non-league clubs and then eventually earning his League One debut at the end of last season.

“At 6ft 4”, Jack will be a real presence within our back line and I’m grateful to our friends at Wycombe for entrusting us with the next stage of his development.”

From everyone at the Shots, welcome Jack!
