Tony Knights Stands Down As Shots Director

Announcing his decision to stand down after 16 months as a Director of Aldershot Town FC, Tony Knights has issued the following statement:

“Unfortunately I have decided to step down as a director of Aldershot Town Football Club. I am extremely proud to have been one of Shahid’s board members that brought our Club out of administration, and although I remain a major shareholder and Club sponsor, it is now time for me to move on. This decision is no surprise to the Board, as when Shahid put the consortium together I was only ever committed for one year, due to the work commitments that I have with my own companies.

“Even without the current FA Cup run and TV coverage, Shahid and his Board of Directors have now set solid foundations and put the Club in a better place than I have seen it before. I am extremely proud to have been part of this regime.

“As an avid and loyal Shots fan and sponsor, I wish the Club’s directors all the very best in what is an exciting future for our Club, and look forward to assisting the Board and commercial team wherever I can.”

Shots Chairman, Shahid Azeem, said on behalf of Aldershot Town: “I want to thank Tony for his hard work and support during the past year. Tony is not just a Director of the Football Club but also a friend and a supporter, and we are pleased that his ongoing commitment will remain as strong as ever. We wish Tony all the best for his business ventures.”
