Shots Welcome Three New Directors

Aldershot Town FC are delighted to welcome three new Directors onto its Board, bringing decades of expertise and increased investment into the Club.

Lewis Scard, who has supported The Shots since 1958 and was part of the senior management team at British Airways for 30 years, is joined by Iain Ross, who has over 25 years’ experience as Chairman and CEO in the life sciences and technology sectors, and Harvard University business graduate Stephen Mallett, whose career in financial and pension fund management in the aviation industry stretches back almost 40 years.

“We have been working very hard with Lewis, Iain and Stephen for some time, and are always looking for new investors,” said Chairman Shahid Azeem. “We are also looking at all the work that needs to be done to take the Club forwards. This is the culmination of a year’s work, in helping them to understand what the Club is all about. With their investment and skill-sets, we are very pleased to welcome all three new members to the Board.”

Scard has worked in recent years as a management consultant specialising in the creation and growth of businesses both in the UK and overseas. Prior to this activity Lewis spent 30 years in the management team at British Airways (BA), moving it – as he puts it – from Bloody Awful to Bloody Awesome!

A Shots supporter since watching Aldershot thrash Gateshead 8 – 1 in September 1958, Lewis says: “I see enormous potential in a club that sits in a huge and wealthy area of population, but it needs a product and a facility suited to 21st century needs and that will be something I will focus on”.

Iain Ross is an experienced international businessman with more than 35 years’ experience largely in the life sciences and technology sectors. His track record includes multiple financing transactions, both publicly and privately, and is currently Chairman and director of a number of companies in UK, USA and Australia. He is science graduate, a qualified Chartered Director, and is Vice Chairman of the Council of Royal Holloway, London University. Iain and his family have lived in the Farnham area for over 25 years and is a keen and active sports fan.

“I am delighted to have joined the ATFC Board,” said Iain, who has recently become a shareholder in the Club, “and look forward to using my contacts in the business sector to assist the Club to achieve its ambitions both on and off the field.”

Stephen Mallett is an economics graduate, Chartered Accountant and sports enthusiast. He has a business career which takes him worldwide and is also Chairman of a number of pension funds.

“It is a privilege and an honour to be have been invited onto the Aldershot Town Board,” said Stephen. “These are exciting times for football and I can see great opportunities ahead for our Club. Football is a team game and I look forward to contributing to the team that leads the development and growth of the Club.”
