Aldershot Town Football Club can confirm that the West End of the EBB Stadium, previously known as the ‘Community Stand’, will now be known as the ‘Mike Pusey Community Stand’.
We’re delighted to immortalise the memory of a man who gave so much to Aldershot FC and Aldershot Town FC with over 50 years of voluntary service; primarily as Club Chaplain.
The Mike Pusey Community Stand was officially opened today by Mike’s friends and family, his favourite Shots player, Steve Melledew, and Club staff.
Memories of Mike will stay around the EBB Stadium forever amongst the many that have had the pleasure and privilege of his company over the years, and we hope that the Mike Pusey Community Stand will ensure that a legacy of his kindness, grace and unwavering love of the Shots continues within new generations of red and blue.
Metaphorically, Mike had been a part of the furniture at the EBB Stadium for six decades, and it was only right that his service to the football club and the wider community was honoured in the correct manner and everyone at the club agreed that renaming the Community Stand – a Stand which is primarily used by the Shots Foundation to house schools, charities and community groups – was a fitting tribute.
We’d like to thank Reade Signs for ensuring signage for the Mike Pusey Community Stand is in place for today’s game and to our volunteers for giving the stand a clean up ahead of today’s unveiling.
