Anthony Straker has left Aldershot Town after turning down the Club’s offer of a new contract.
Straker returned to the EBB Stadium last summer, having spent five seasons with The Shots from 2007 to 2012. With 37 appearances this season – including the second leg of the Play-Off semi-final against Tranmere Rovers – the Grenada international is now fourth in the Club’s all-time appearance list, on 266 games.
Anthony originally joined Aldershot Town from Crystal Palace in July 2007 and in his first season won both the Blue Square Premier championship and Setanta Shield. He remained a regular in the side as The Shots finished 15th in League Two and then, under Kevin Dillon, reached the Play-Off semi-finals in 2009-10.
He also featured in Aldershot Town’s League Cup ties against West Ham United and Manchester United in 2011, before leaving The Shots in July 2012 to join Southend United. Straker has also played for Wycombe Wanderers, Grimsby Town, York City and Motherwell.
We thank Anthony for his contribution to the Club in both spells, and wish him well for the future.
