STAYING: TOBY NELSON

Aldershot Town are delighted to confirm that academy graduate Toby Nelson will once again be a part of the first-team squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The now-20-year-old has been with the club since July 2022 after joining from Crystal Palace. Early highlights include winning the Under 18 Hampshire County Cup, as well as earning national recognition, representing England Schoolboys as a Shot.

Sharing his responsibilities between both the First and B team last campaign – the latter for whom he played a significant role in securing a Suburban League/Cup double – Toby featured in 15 matchday squads across the 2025/26 Enterprise National League season, while also scoring first-team goals against Southampton U21s and Andover New Street in the National League Cup and Hampshire County Cup respectively.

During his time with the club thus far, no one has worked as closely with Toby than head of the ATFC academy, Richard Anderson, who speaks highly of a merited renewal:

“This will be a proud moment for Toby and his family. Entering his 5th season at the club, Toby has shown a clear focus and determination, along with great progress to become the player he is today.

“This was never more on show than in his debut performance in the Hampshire County Cup against Andover last season, scoring both the equaliser and showing the nerve to score the winning penalty. He then backed this up with his standout performance in the National League Cup against Southampton.”

These performances are not a rarity for Toby, showing his potential in each of his subsequent National League performances. I, and no doubt everyone connected to the club, very much look forward to watching him continue to flourish, as his journey with us hopefully goes on to reach new heights.”

Impressed with the young forward’s development, Scott Davies makes no secret of his plans to further integrate Nelson into first-team football, having this to say:

“Having watched Toby play in a cup final at the back end of the season, Jonah and I left the ground very impressed.

“It’s important that we continue the good work that Richard Anderson has put into the younger players at the club and we believe we can help Toby in doing that.

“He had a taste of first team football last season but it’s vital that he ends next season with a number of senior games under his belt.

“We’ve spoken at length and decided that if game time is limited with us it’s important that we ensure he goes out and gets game time elsewhere.”

An extremely popular young man around the club, everyone at Aldershot Town would like to congratulate Toby on his renewed first-team status, and look forward to his return amid the upcoming pre-season preparations.
