Aldershot Town FC launches the new Shots Foundation this Friday, to work with the local community and improve lives through the power of football.
The Shots host AFC Wimbledon in their final pre-season friendly at 7.30pm, and before kick-off will welcome representatives of community groups and charities to celebrate the Foundation. The EBB Stadium’s Community Stand will be full with young people from schools, youth groups and grassroots football clubs.
Aiming to raise aspirations and inspire all members of the community, the Foundation will promote active and healthy lifestyles, and allow as many people as possible to play football regardless of age, ability or circumstances. Working with Rushmoor residents who live in some of the most disadvantaged areas in the UK, the Foundation will seek to improve standards in education, health and mental wellbeing.
“This is a very exciting time for the Club, on and off the pitch,” explained Janice Samuels, Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. “The Foundation hopes to put Aldershot Town FC at the heart of its community and make a real difference to people’s lives. We will raise aspirations, provide opportunities and embrace the diversity of our community through the medium of sport. Our aim is to get everybody working together for the greater good.”
The Community Stand will remain open to local schools, charities and community groups for every National League game, to give the fans of tomorrow an opportunity to enjoy professional football on their doorstep.
Sponsorship opportunities for local companies will enable schools and junior sports clubs to access tickets for matches during the season. If you would like to be a guest of the Club, or help to sponsor the provision of free tickets, please contact Steve Gibbs via firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 01252 320211.
