With Christmas fast approaching, we at Aldershot Town Football Club and the Shots Foundation, are prepared for a busy festive period. Christmas is a special time of year, but for many it’s a difficult period, whether that’s due to the financial strain it brings, health issues or other adversities. We want to help; this is why we have a number of community initiatives taking place this Christmas.
Christmas Carol Service
Our annual Chirstmas Carol Service at the Holy Trinity Church continues this year on Thursday, 12th December at 7:30pm. Come in red and blue to join Shots management and players and enjoy cask ale, mulled wine, mince pies etc afterwards.
There will be a retiring collection which will be shared between Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and The Source.
The Holy Trinity Church can be found a very short walk from the EBB Stadium down Victoria Road.
Fundraiser for the Community Grub Hub
We are supporting our local foodbank this Christmas. So many families struggle to put food on the table all year round, let alone at Christmas time. So, we are organising a food collection before the fixture vs Halifax Town at the EBB Stadium on Saturday 14th December.
There will be a stand in front of the ticket office, outside of the turnstiles, from 1pm. We are asking fans to bring a donation of non-perishable food (cereal, canned food, long live milk etc) or cleaning products; all the products need to be unopened. We know that many of you will have your own difficulties at this time of year, so anything you can contribute will be gratefully received.
Shots Toy Appeal 2024
Once again, this year we will be making toy donations to local hospitals, Frimley Park and Royal Surrey County. There are many children who won’t spend this Christmas at home, but rather in hospital. We want to do our part to bring the children in our local hospitals some festive cheer this Christmas.
This year we will be collecting the toys internally, through foundation and club staff and first-team players. So, we are not asking for your contributions. However, if you are especially interested and want to donate, you can contact jamie.macallister@shotsfoundation.org.
Veterans Christmas Lunch
This year we will run our second Veterans Christmas Lunch at the football club. This builds on our monthly Veterans Hub’s ran in the JML. This year we will be offering a free two-course Christmas meal to up to 60 military veterans as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting our military community. The event will also consist of Christmas Carols, raffles and appearances from ATFC players. If you are interested in our work with the military and veterans, please contact kay.khan@shotsfoundation.org.
If you have any questions about any of the Christmas community initiatives or activities, please contact jamie.macallister@shotsfoundation.org.
