Match Preview: Shots v Chelsea U23

Former Shots loanee Michael Hector captains a strong Chelsea Under 23 squad on Wednesday night at the EBB Stadium, as they provide the opposition in The Shots’ fourth pre-season friendly.

Hector, who joined The Blues from Reading for £4.6 million in 2016, spent last season on loan at Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, and now leads a Chelsea team which also features midfielder Conor Gallagher – brother of Jake – plus England Under 20 international Izzy Brown, who played 40 games for Huddersfield Town last season as they won promotion to the Premier League, and striker Callum Hudson-Odoi, a member of England’s Under 17 European Championship-winning squad.

Also likely to feature in the 21-man party are Scotland Under 21 internationals Ruben Sammut and Islam Feruz, Swedish Under 19 international midfielder Joseph Colley and Netherlands Under 17 winger Juan Castillo.

Gary Waddock is expected to field a full first-team squad, again accompanied by a number of trialists.

Kick-off is 7pm. Admission is £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, with children under 6 admitted free. The North Stand is open for both sets of supporters, with the East Bank Bar and North Stad catering unit open for hot food and refreshments.
