“The Season Is Not Over Yet” – Chairman’s Statement

Chairman Shahid Azeem has issued a personal statement on behalf of the Board of Directors to supporters ahead of tomorrow’s Play-Off semi-final second leg at Prenton Park.

“We would like to thank every Shots fan who has supported us this season, and particularly everybody who came to Wednesday’s first leg at the EBB Stadium. We hope that, despite the result, you enjoyed the game and your time with us. The logistics of staging such a game with four days’ notice and such a large crowd weren’t easy but we hope that any minor problems didn’t impinge upon your evening too much.

“However, the season is not over yet. We would urge every Aldershot Town fan to make the journey to The Wirral to cheer our team. We know that Tranmere Rovers are favourites to reach Wembley but we also all know that nobody can take anything for granted in this game. The players have exceeded our expectations already, just in making the Play-Offs, so who is to say that they cannot do so again? We have seen what they are capable of, and how we can beat anybody in this division on our day.

“Whatever the result tomorrow, the players deserve our thanks for a superb season. The excitement they have given us, and the pride and passion that they have shown in wearing the red and blue shirt, has been brilliant, and we should let them know how much we appreciate it.

“These players will be back next season to once again represent our Club in fine style, and win, lose or draw tomorrow we are very proud of what they have achieved.”
