Chairman Shahid Azeem attends Joint Signing Ceremony as Natta and CISTC join the Armed Forces Covenant

On Wednesday 7th July, Aldershot Town Chairman Shahid Azeem attended the joint signing ceremony in which major sponsor Natta and CISTC joined the Armed Forces Covenant.

For one of our major sponsors, the Natta Group, and likewise at Aldershot Town, people are very much at the heart of our business, but to truly support our people, we believe that it is necessary to create a culture that is diverse, inclusive and importantly, representative of the communities we work within.

The Armed Forces Covenant lays out commitments for businesses to protect and support members of the Armed Forces community, ensuring that they have the same access to government and commercial services and opportunities as other citizens.

Adershot Town Chairman Shahid Azeem was in attendance with 20 guests to witness the signing. Among those in attendance was the HM Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey, Michael More-Molyneux as well as The Mayor of Waverley, Cllrs John Robini, Colonel Patrick Crowley DL Chief Executive and Andrew Gibbs from the South East Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association and Canon Peter Bruinvels.

The Covenants were co-signed by Managing Director, John E Whelan and Colonel Patrick Cowley.

Natta Managing Director, John Whelan said: “I am very proud to be signing the Covenants today. The Armed Forces play a crucial part in keeping our country safe and it is important that we show our recognition by supporting those serving and their families in any way that we can, as well as inspiring others to do the same.”

The Head of CISTC, and regular visitor at Aldershot Town, Paddy Baines, also commented: “Having recently retired from the Army after 40 years of service, I can honestly say that Natta recognises and values the skills and experience that Military personnel can bring to the Construction Industry. We already employ a number of ex-military personnel and we are always looking for more. By signing the Armed Forces Covenant today, Natta is formalising our commitment to support Service personnel and their spouses in their transition to civilian life, and of course those members of the Reserve Forces who continue to serve our country.”

Colonel Patrick Cowley remarked: “I am delighted that Natta and CISTC have signed the Armed Forces Covenant, demonstrating a close relationship between the Armed Forces and the Natta Group.”
