Roger De Courcey & Nookie Bear At Sportsman’s Dinner

Legendary ventriloquist and comedian Roger de Courcey – plus mischievous sidekick Nookie Bear – will join the Voice of Golf, Peter Alliss, at the Aldershot Town Sportsman’s Dinner at Farnborough’s Village Hotel on Friday 13 November.

From 7pm, guests will enjoy a pre-dinner drinks reception and delicious three-course meal before great entertainment from one of the best, most engaging speakers on the circuit and a comedian who has been loved by millions for 40 years.

This black tie event is one of ATFC’s annual fundraising events and will also feature some amazing raffle prizes and an auction. For those needing a midnight snack, bacon butties will be served as the bar stays open until late.

Peter Alliss has been the Voice of Golf for over 50 years, backed by the experiences of a career which saw him compete in eight Ryder Cups and win 21 professional tournaments between 1954 and 1969. The son of Percy Alliss – who himself won 18 professional tournaments, and joined his son at the 1953 Ryder Cup – Peter turned pro at the age of 16 and also won three British PGA Championships as well as representing England in ten World Cups. He has twice been Captain of the Professional Golfers’ Association and is recognised around the world for his television work, for which Golf Digest magazine described him as “the greatest golf commentator ever”.

In addition to being the author of 20 books on the sport, and the host of two hugely successful television series, Pro-Celebrity Golf and Around with Alliss, Peter taught Sean Connery to play golf in 1964, as James Bond took on Auric Goldfinger in the 1964 film. It was a moment which inspired Connery’s now lifelong love of the sport.

Roger de Courcey and his irrepressibly naughty sidekick Nookie Bear first delighted audiences on the 1970s talent show New Faces, when they won the 1976 Grand Final. Since then, he has enjoyed his own TV series, been part of the Royal Variety Performance, and made special guest appearances on virtually every light entertainment show. Nookie, a Crystal Palace fan, continues to be a hugely in-demand personality in his own right, performing around the world, including in two successful seasons in Las Vegas

Tickets are £60 each, with tables of ten available for businesses, groups or friends, and can be booked by calling Aldershot Town FC on 01252 320211 or emailing mark.butler@theshots.co.uk.
