Aldershot Town Academy Manager Ross McNeilly thought his team were “excellent” after his u19 side won 1-0 away to Dartford Whites, as they travelled to Princes Park on Wednesday in the u19 Alliance National League Football Academy South D.
The game was very tight in the opening stages, but the Shots were superb defensively and left Dartford Whites struggling to create any chances, as Aldershot Town took full advantage in the first half.
Danilo Pereira finished off a superb team goal to give The Shots the lead before the interval. The game remained close in the second half but Dartford still found it immensely hard to get near the Aldershot Town goal.
The Shots youngsters saw off the game brilliantly playing “some very good football” and missed a few chances in the second half to kill the game off totally, but held out for a deserved win to continue their impressive run in the Alliance National League.
McNeilly gave his thoughts on the performance:
“It was a very close game, and all the players were excellent, he said.
“We defended very well in the first half and scored a great team goal.
“We played some very good football in periods of the first half.
“The second half was close and we have seen the game out well without giving away any clear chances.”
The result now means that Aldershot have only lost one league game out of their last eight, undoubtedly having one of the best defenders at their disposal this season. McNeilly gave his thoughts on what the result means for the u19s:
“This now means that we have won seven of the last eight in that league. I have a very good side here.”
The next Aldershot Town Academy Team in action are the Aldershot Town u18s, as they have found out who they have in the last 32 from the ESFA u18s National Schools Super League following the draw on the 27 January 2020.
