REACTION: Ross McNeilly Post-Boreham Wood

Aldershot Town Academy Manager Ross McNeilly thought that the game against Boreham Wood was “tight” after his u19 side won 1-0 on Wednesday in the National Academies League.

The game was very tight between the two sides with The Shots not starting too well and failing to convert a lot of chances. It was a very tough game for Aldershot but they should’ve won by more but they had enough in the end to seal the victory.

On the stroke of half-time, Ben Mandeville headed past the keeper to give the Shots a 1-0 lead. Despite the missed opportunities, McNeilly thought that the defence was solid throughout the game:

“Pleased to win, and it was an ugly win. A clean sheet is always good and we defended well.”

Aldershot Town u19s struggled at the beginning of the season, but now look like they’ve turned a corner and hit their stride with their uprise in form as they look to continue their unbeaten streak:

“It does mean we have won five of the last six in the National Academies League after losing the first 5.”

The u19s are bound to continue their hot streak as they look ahead to their next fixture against the same opposition but this time they are away next Wednesday whilst the u18 side is playing Sparsholt College on Friday.
