Shots Prepare For Strong QPR Squad

Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink is set to bring a strong Queen’s Park Rangers side to the EBB Stadium on Friday as Aldershot Town begin their pre-season campaign.

Hasselbaink’s provisional squad made a combined total of over 300 first-team appearances last season, and is expected to include England international Steven Caulker, former Wolves midfielder Karl Henry, Supporters Player of the Year Grant Hall, Dutch attacking midfielder Tjaronn Chery – who won two Player of the Year Awards at Loftus Road in 2015-16 – and former Newcastle United defender James Perch.

Also involved should be Hungary international Daniel Tozser, Scotland striker Jamie Mackie, German Under-21 international Sebastian Polter, Dutch winger Nasser El Khayati and striker Jay Emmanuel-Thomas.

“It will be a good game for us,” said Gary Waddock of the meeting with his former side. “But there will be a lot of players that the supporters may not be too familiar with – there will be a number of players who will be playing for contracts at the Club. But the lads who have signed here will also play, so there could be a strong XI that go out and there could be an XI that go out, perhaps in the second-half, that are on trial to show what they are capable of.”

Kick-off at the EBB Stadium is 7.45pm. Admission is £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, with Under 11s admitted free.
