Shots Help Launch Poppy Appeal v Guiseley

Aldershot Town will help to launch the 2016 Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal with a collection at the EBB Stadium on Saturday 29 October, as we host Guiseley AFC.

Shots fans last year raised over £500 for the Appeal, with further money raised by the auction of special poppy-embossed Shots playing shirts and a commemorative captain’s armband.

Aldershot Town Chairman, Shahid Azeem, said: “We are very proud to represent the Home of the British Army, and thank our loyal fans in advance for once again joining us in supporting our local Garrison and the wonderful cause which commemorates the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces. We are delighted to continue to raise money for them and salute every single person who has served our country with great courage and honour.”

First held in 1921, and inspired by John McCrae’s poem In Flanders Fields, the annual Poppy Appeal raises money for the Royal British Legion’s work in supporting members of the Armed Forces, their families and dependents.
