Player Spotlight: Ryan Hill

Ryan joined The Shots in the summer of last year and has impressed so far during his time at the club. Since then, he has hit the ground running in his first season at the EBB Stadium, playing every game but two and recording 9 goal contributions from midfield. Consistently a hard-working engine attacking and defending up and down the wings with the quality to produce a final product in games, Ryan has been an excellent addition to our squad this year.

EARLY CAREER

Ryan began his professional career with Stoke City where he signed his first professional contract. Before this, he was a part of Stoke City’s youth system at the U23 level, recording 23 games in the Premier League 2. After this, he made the move to Hampton and Richmond allowing him to get consistent, first-team game time and take a massive step forward in his career.

Since then, Ryan has become very familiar with the Enterprise National League, racking up over 180 games in the division for Eastleigh, Dagenham and Redbridge and now, The Shots. His experience with the league has been important in both settling in with life at the EBB Stadium and in being confident to play freely enough to contribute goals and win points.

FOOTBALLING ACHIEVEMENTS

Ryan has a lot to be proud of throughout his footballing journey so far, and undoubtedly has many more fantastic moments to come.

During his time at Hampton and Richmond, Ryan was a key component in seeing much improved league finishes for the club, going from 15th placed to 7th and then 6th in the next two consecutive seasons.

Ryan is also currently The Shots top goal-scorer this season, made even more impressive by his position as a wing back. Hopefully he keeps his scoring boots on for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign.

FACT-FILE

We already know that Ryan is a wing back powerhouse and deadly on the attack, so here is something you might not know about him:

  • Throughout his career, Ryan has been seen all over the pitch, operating outside of his favoured position as a positive wing back. He has even been given chances as a centre forward early in his career and in his youth, so goalscoring has always been in his nature.
