The club are devastated to learn of the passing of Peter Bloomfield, aged 79 after a short illness.
Peter was one of the original Directors from Aldershot Town FC (1992) Ltd and, in total served in that role for over 20 years.
Peter was born in Aldershot and attended Yeomans Bridge School in Tongham. He also played football in his youth as one of the original players for Ash Rangers. He worked in the construction industry for much of his life travelling all over the Middle and Far East and Africa with construction projects. Peter’s other great love was cricket, and he spent many years involved at Camberley Cricket Club. He was also involved with Bromley Cricket Club during his time when he lived in Kent.
However, Aldershot Football Club was his first love. Peter was a supporter from school days and was present when the Shots beat Aston Villa in the FA Cup at the Recreation Ground in 1964. At the time, his Uncle Mr Julius G Ceasar was the Chair of the club too. Peter remained an avid supporter through to the demise of Aldershot FC where he also played a role in trying to save the club behind the scenes. When the club was liquidated in March 1992 Peter then focussed on the new club and was appointed as a director on 1 July 1992 where his primary focus was responsible for the maintenance and ground safety of the Recreation Ground which was the obvious choice given Peter’s expertise in the construction business. During his tenure as Director Peter enjoyed five promotions from the Isthmian League Division 3 to the Football League alongside that League Cup 4th round tie versus his second team Manchester United in October 2011.
After stepping down as a director in 2012 Peter remained an avid supporter attending home matches and often frequenting the old “Wallys South Stand” bar. He also was present alongside close to 20,000 Shots fans at Wembley in May 2025 for that historic FA Trophy success at Wembley versus Spennymoor Town.
Peter gave so much of his life for the football club that he loved. Without individuals such as Peter Bloomfield there would be no Aldershot Town Football Club. Peter’s devotion to Aldershot football was outstanding. His commitment immense. His passing leaves a deep void for his family and his many friends at the football club and wider circles.
To Peter’s wife Jean, children Nicola and Duncan and all the family we extend our deepest condolences to you at such a difficult time. We hope you are comforted by the sincerest affection that Peter is held in at Aldershot Town Football Club by so many.
