Injury Update: Arnold’s ACL Requires Surgery

Nick Arnold will require surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered at Eastleigh on Bank Holiday Monday.

Nick will be visiting a specialist later this week to confirm a schedule for surgery and rehabilitation. The Shots’ Head of Medical and Sports Science, Russ Clash, has advised that a six-month recovery period is likely, meaning Nick will hopefully target his return to fitness for the end of March.

With a further seven players missing or struggling through injury, Gary Waddock has said that Bernard Mensah has today had a second scan on his tendon, to ascertain the extent of the tear, with the manager hopeful of a return to fitness at the start of October.

Will Evans is to have an x-ray on his fractured toe this week to confirm the status of the healing process, whilst fellow centre-back Will de Havilland suffered a knee injury against Chester and is due to return in a fortnight.

Manny Oyeleke will miss the next three weeks due to a hamstring injury suffered at Eastleigh, and Shamir Fenelon will be assessed in the next few days following his own hamstring strain in scoring Saturday’s winning goal against Solihull Moors. Shaun Okojie, though, is due back in training after missing the weekend’s victory with a dead leg.

Scott Rendell should also be available at the weekend after attending the birth of his baby daughter on Saturday afternoon.

Our congratulations go to the Rendell family, along with our best wishes to all players for a swift recovery.
