We are delighted to announce that Crawley Town midfielder Sam Matthews has signed for the club on loan until the end of the season!
24 year-old Matthews will be looking to build on his previous Vanarama National League experience with both Braintree Town and Eastleigh in four different seasons.
The midfielder previously graduated from AFC Bournemouth’s academy with spells on loan with Poole Town, Eastleigh FC and Braintree Town earning Matthews a chance at League One football with Bristol Rovers.
After a spell in the side at League One level, Matthews moved on for more regular opportunities with Crawley Town in League Two competing with former loanee Jack Powell for a place in the Crawley starting line-up.
Matthews will be looking to replicate the impressive performances put in back in the 2017-18 Vanarama National League season that saw him score six goals in 39 games, including a hat-trick against Solihull Moors on the final day of the season.
It was these showings from the Poole-born midfielder that saw him pick up the Spitfires’ Player of the Season award before earning the move to Bristol Rovers.
Matthews now join us ahead of our Vanarama National League home fixture tonight against Dover Athletic hoping to replicate these levels of performances for Aldershot Town for the remainder of the season, with tickets available HERE.
