We are delighted to announce that Ibrahim ‘Ibby’ Akanbi has signed for the club ahead of the 2021/22 Vanarama National League season!
Akanbi, who is a striker by trade, joins the club from Vanarama National League South club Maidstone United and will be looking to add attacking threat to Danny Searle’s side ahead of the 2021/22 Vanarama National League season.
During his time with the Stones, the 24 year-old was their top scorer in the 2019-20 season, scoring 11 goals and will look to bounce back from an early end to the National League South last season due to Covid-19 with a successful spell back in the National League with Aldershot Town.
Akanbi also played a significant part in Maidstone’s recent runs in the FA Cup, that saw the club reach the FA Cup second round for the last three seasons and will joining Aldershot Town in the hope to replicate this success.
The former Crystal Palace youngster also joins the club, knowing some familiar faces already, having been in youth systems with the Eagles with recent addition Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong too.
Our new player will look to be involved in our final pre-season friendly against Brentford ‘B’, before our Vanarama National League season starts against Chesterfield FC at home on the 21st August with tickets available now!
