We’re delighted to confirm the signing of promising goalkeeper Marcus Dewhurst!
The ‘keeper has put pen to paper to sign a two-year deal with the Shots.
Dewhurst is a former England youth international and represented his country up until Under 20 level whilst progressing through the youth ranks at Sheffield United.
The 23-year-old has already amassed well over 100 senior appearances in the National League North and National League during loan spells and most recently with Wealdstone last season.

Tommy Widdrington said: “Having met and discussed a number of things with Marcus, I felt he came across more experienced than his years.”
“He has played a lot of senior football already and with the all-round, modern-day goalkeeper skill set, we felt the opportunity to attain his services was a great opportunity for us to improve the goalkeeping department.”
“His performances for Wealdstone last season were a major factor in them securing their National League status.”
“Competition, in all areas, is vital and now we have Jordi (van Stappershoef), Pat (Nash) and Marcus, I feel really confident this will keep them all at the very top of their games – they’ve all been told the man in form will get the gloves then it’s up to him to keep them.”
“Quite often a goalkeeper can relax once in the side but with three capable of being the number 1, I only look at this as a positive: After all, we would always ensure suitable cover in every other position!”
Head of Recruitment Jamie Hedges added: “We’re delighted Marcus has chosen to join us over various other opportunities in the EFL and our league.”
“We wanted to add strength to our goalkeeping department and Marcus was our number one target. He’s had great pedigree at Sheffield Utd and England’s Youth sides, and has various experience out on loan and performed brilliantly.”
“He really caught the eye last season with his performances for Wealdstone where he was widely regarded as one of the best performing ‘keepers in our division.”
“He’s a modern goalkeeper; athletic, a good shot-stopper and is comfortable with his feet. We now feel with Marcus, Jordi (van Stappershoef) and Pat (Nash), we have great strength in this department.”
Welcome to the Shots, Marcus!
