NEW SIGNING: James Henry

We’re delighted to confirm the signing of experienced midfielder James Henry subject to League and FA approval!

The 35-year-old joins the Shots for the 24/25 season and brings over 500 Football League with him and will wear the number 27 shirt.

Henry spent last season with Oxford United, who he joined in 2017/18, and made 14 appearances for the now Championship side as they won the League One playoffs last season and made a total of 260 appearances for them.

The midfielder started his career with Nottingham Forest and earned England under 19 caps as a youngster and has had brief spells at Norwich, Bournemouth, Reading and Bolton.

Henry has made over 200 appearances in the Championship and his longer stints at Wolves and Millwall saw him surpass a century of appearances.

Tommy Widdrington said he’s delighted to have signed Henry, adding: “He’s trained with the group over the past few weeks and shown not only excellent football awareness and ability but an assured and measured approach to whatever we have thrown at him.”

“His record most recently at Oxford Utd is a measure of how he looks after himself and his experience will be an attribute I feel we need at the club.”

“This addition strengthens our attacking options and I feel it shows our intention of improving on last season’s efforts and I’m sure The Shots family will all join me in welcoming James to The EBB!”

Head of Recruitment Jamie Hedges echoed Widdrington’s delight and added: “He’s been training with us for a little while and shown that despite being 35, he is in fantastic shape.”

“James is a model professional, will add much needed experience to the group and having played over 600 games – none of which have been below League One – his pedigree speaks for itself.”

“We wanted to add more goals to the group and James will do just that, it should be a fantastic coup for the football club.”

Welcome to the Shots, James!
