We’re pleased to confirm that Jordi van Stappershoef will be staying with the Shots for the 24/25 season!
The Dutch ‘keeper joined at the beginning of the 23/24 pre-season campaign and quickly staked a claim for the number one shirt as he went on to make 49 appearances for the Shots last season.
On signing a new deal, Jordi said: “I’m really looking forward to play at the EBB again!”
“Last season was great and I’m really happy to sign for another year.”
“I’m going to aim for an even better season and I am sure all the fans and everyone else involved will give us the amazing support like they did last season.”
Tommy Widdrington said: “I understand, for the most part, most goalkeepers will generally be judged on how often he picks the ball out of his net. However, I can say I don’t see it the same as most so don’t believe most of the blame should lie at just the ‘keeper’s feet for the vast majority of the goals conceded and this was certainly the case last season with Jordi.”
“He showed great consistency in his own level of performance and did well to not lose his cool on occasions as he was exposed too readily and too often in some games.”
“He of course played his part in both the league and cup successes we shared and having played over 40 games, triggered an option to extend.”
“Jordi is aware there will be far greater competition for the number one jersey this season, firstly with Pat (Nash), but we may not be finished in that department either!”
Congratulations, Jordi, we can’t wait to see you back!
