NEW CONTRACT AND LOAN: Alex MacAllister

We’re pleased to confirm that exciting young attacker Alex MacAllister has signed a contract with the Shots until the end of this season!

MacAllister will join Welling United in the Vanarama National League South on a loan deal until January.

He signed his first professional development contract last season and despite spending the vast majority of the campaign on loan, made his Vanarama National League debut at Wrexham.

The 19-year-old was also an unused substitute on five occasions for the Shots last season and had successful loan spells with Winchester City, Hartley Wintney and Kingstonian.

The youngster says he’s delighted to be extending his contract, adding “Last season was brilliant. Making my National League debut and training with the first-team was a great experience.”

“Gaining experience on loan at Step Three was also so important and I’m looking forward to continuing my development.”

Tommy Widdrington added: Alex, like Keane and Maxi impressed me initially in training towards the end of last season and continued to do so on returning to pre-season.”

“Obviously, with the more senior options I have at this time, we feel to get him out playing senior football at Step 2 is the best option for all concerned.”

“I’m hoping we can create a similar pathway for one or two more so we have more players, whatever their age, attuned to a 1st team environment so on their return will hopefully be ready for us to consider.”
