Montel Brown

Aldershot Town were delighted to welcome former youth team player Montel Brown as a special guest of the club at last Saturday’s 1-0 win over Braintree Town.

Montel and his family were special guests of Director Waleed Khan and he had this to say following Montel’s visit:

“Last Saturday for the Braintree game, I had the pleasure of hosting Montel Brown and his parents as my guests. Montel is one of our aspiring academy player’s.

“Some of you may be aware about what Montel and his family have had to endure for the last 7-8 months. On 18th March this year, Montel was a victim of an unprovoked vicious life threatening attack and that the surgeon and nurses at Royal London Hospital saved his life.

“As a parent myself, I have struggled to comprehend why someone would commit such an act of violence for no reason. Sadly, we are all too aware of the menace of knife crime and that is why I am hoping to gain your support. Barts Charity is raising funds for the Trauma Surgery Department at Barts NHS Trust. As such, Montel’s family are fundraising to support the Trust and should anyone wish to participate, you can by donating to his Just Giving page HERE.

“I am extremely proud of the boys that form our Academy and the way they play football under the stewardship of Ross McNeilly (with my coach’s hat on now) on the deck, playing from the back and moving the ball around the pitch very comfortably. I would encourage you if haven’t already, to go watch a game or two.

“We are about community and Montel is part of our community.”

Everyone at Aldershot Town Football Club wishes Montel all the best in his continued recovery and we hope to see him back playing football again as soon as possible!
