The Shots were denied late by Lenell John-Lewis as York were 1-0 winners at the LNER Community Stadium.
Tommy Widdrington was forced into the only change from the 4-1 victors against Ebbsfleet, as suspended Haji Mnoga made way and returning from suspension Coby Rowe was put into the starting XI.
Two minutes in Stuart O’Keefe forced Rory Watson into an early save, getting on the end of a Ryan Glover cross and hitting a volley straight at Watson, who tipped the ball over for a corner.
The hosts were lucky not to be reduced to 10 in the opening 15, as Thierry Latty-Fairweather went in late on Ryan Glover with a challenge which was high and reckless, however referee Andrew Miller decided a yellow card would be enough.
York had the much the better of the Shots in the first 45, but at 0-0 Aldershot created a good opening from a short corner close to the break. Josh Stokes played it low to Ryan Glover, he beat a man and sent a deflected ball across the box, and after some bouncing around the ball found Josh Stokes again, but he was only able to find the side netting.
HALF TIME: York 0-0 Shots
With the defence already low with enforcements due to injury the Shots were handed a hammer blow as Coby Rowe went off with injury, and was replaced by Josh Barrett on 50. Dylan Kadji dropped into the right side of the back three, and Stokes dropped deeper in midfield as Josh Barrett went behind Lorent Tolaj and James Daly.
York continued to get the better of the Shots, so Tommy Widdrington changed again in order to try and get ahead in the game. Kwame Thomas came on in place of James Daly.
The Shots nearly opened the scoring just after the 70 minute mark, as Tyler Frost found a way into the box and cut the ball back for Barrett, but his effort was saved by Rory Watson.
Another throw of the dice came in the 81st minute as Hady Ghandour replaced Lorent Tolaj in a like for like change up front. Moments after the Shots were nearly ahead in emphatic fashion, as a bouncing ball fell to Josh Barrett, and an acrobatic effort went just over the bar.
In added time York found the winner, and much like he did in the game at the EBB Stadium Linell John-Lewis scored late into the game, getting onto the end of a Callum Howe header at the back post.
The Shots now turn attention to next weekend’s clash against Solihull Moors.
