The Shots were held to a 1-1 draw as the points were shared with Yeovil Town away at Huish Park.
The first chance on goal came from the Shots just six minutes in. Hady Ghandour managed to win the ball on the edge of Yeovil’s box and squared it to Dejan Tetek, however his close-ranged shot was blocked.
Almost immediately after, the Shots opened the scoring. The ball was clipped to Josh Barrett who lobbed the goalkeeper with the outside of his boot, and the ball fired into the left of the net.
Five minutes later, the dominance from the Shots continued. James Henry sent a curling shot from outside the box but his effort was saved by Oliver Wright.
Yeovil’s first chance of the game came in the 13th minute. Brett McGavin played a cross from outside the box which was met by Morgan Williams but his touch went wide.
In the 20th minute, the Glovers had a shot on goal and were close to equalising. McGavin sent a low free-kick at the edge of the box but his effort was seen pushed away by Marcus Dewhurst.
Two minutes later, the home side tried to level once again. Frank Nouble saw his effort blocked from inside the box by Lachlan Byrd, but Charlie Cooper recycled the attack and fired a powerful shot but was brilliantly saved by Dewhurst.
Another chance for the Shots came in the 25th minute. Barrett’s shot from distance was punched clear by Wright and fell into the path of Barrett once again, he squared the ball to Ghandour who tried to turn it in, but his effort was denied by a Yeovil defender.
Four minutes later, the Shots had another close opportunity. Barrett who was at the edge of the box tried to chip the ball into the goal but his effort was covered by Wright and was seen wide of the post.
At the half hour mark, the Shots were close to doubling their lead. The ball was met by Henry who saw his powerful shot blocked, but his rebounded effort fell to Dan Ellison who headed the ball just wide.
The last effort of the first half came from the hosts. Jordan Young launched the ball from outside of the box, but Dewhurst tipped his effort over the ball at full stretch.
HALF TIME
The opening chance of the second half came from the Shots in the 48th minute. Barrett struck the ball into the back of the net, but the Assistant Referee had already raised their flag as Ghandour was offside in the build up.
Six minutes later, another chance came for the visitors. Tetek tried his luck from the edge of the box, but his curled effort fell wide.
In the 61st minute, the Glovers made it 1-1. The hosts made their way forward and the ball was met by McGuckin who slotted the ball past Dewhurst into the bottom corner.
The next 22 minutes of the game saw few chances for either side and neither goalkeeper was called into action.
The Shots came close to creating another chance in the 83rd minute, as Byrd made his way into the home-side’s box but his cut was turned behind.
The remaining period of the game saw limited chances created from both sides. Despite the Shots pushing for a last minute winner, the Glovers managed to hold out the visitors until the final whistle, with the game finishing at a 1-1 draw.
