MATCH REPORT: Shots 0-0 Eastleigh

A solid defensive display from Tyler Cordner and the Shots defence saw Aldershot earn their first clean sheet of the season in a 0-0 draw against Eastleigh at the EBB.

Shots made a fast start to the game, as Ody Alfa looked sharp from the off for the Shots, seeing two low efforts saved by Joe McDonnell in the Eastleigh net in the opening 10 minutes.

Faysal Bettache had the first really good chance of the half after 30 minutes, doing really well to beat his man to get into the box, before his effort from a tight angle was stopped by the feet of McDonnell and put out for a corner, from which Shots could not score.

A few moments later Shots had another good chance, after an inviting free kick from Ollie Harfield found the head of Corey Jordan in a good position, but his headed effort went over from just inside the Eastleigh box.

Luca Ashby-Hammond was forced into his first action of the half after Danny Whitehall found himself in a dangerous position, with Ashby-Hammond saving his driven effort well with his feet to keep the scores level.

After an end to end first half, neither side could break the deadlock, seeing the sides level after 45.

Shots began to create a flurry of chances just before the hour, with the Eastleigh defence doing well to deny Shots the lead, with Corey Jordan coming closest, seeing his curling effort blocked for a corner.

A good shift from Ody Alfa came to an abrupt end in the 74th minute, after he was replaced by Justin Amaluzor through what seemed like an injury for the QPR loanee.

Eastleigh came close to opening the scoring in the 79th minute as Ryan Hill hit the crossbar, but his effort was not close enough and the scores remained level.

The game became more tense as the game ticked towards 90 minutes, and Shots had a good chance on the counter in the 85th, with Frank Vincent hitting a shot from distance, seeing his effort saved.

Shots had two golden chances to win the game in the dying embers, the first from Cordner who found himself free from a corner, but saw his effort blocked, and Effiong found himself free moments later, but was unable to hit a shot with any conviction as it was deflected into the keepers palms.
