Full-Time: Imps 3 Shots 3

For the second week in succession The Shots were denied by an injury-time goal as Matt Rhead’s 97th minute equaliser snatched a point for The Imps.

Aldershot Town took an early lead through Idris Kanu – his first league goal for The Shots – but a double from Nathan Arnold has turned it around for Lincoln City.

Farman parried Rendell’s 10th minute effort at point-blank range, from Alexander’s cross, but Mensah pounced to convert the rebound.

City had made a strong start and were level on 21 minutes, as Anderson’s through ball sent Arnold clear to chip a shot beyond the advancing Jake Cole.

Farman denied Kanu as he shot on the turn at the second attempt but on the half-hour City took the lead. Recycling Cole’s punch, an incisive pass in the right channel found Arnold turning into the box to fire low across the goalkeeper.

The game continued apace after the break and Cheye Alexander brought The Shots level on 51 minutes, curling a stunning 18 yard shot into the far top corner from Rendell’s lay-off.

It was Rendell who then put The Shots back in front on 72 minutes, as City appeared to lose their impetus. The visitors had been patient in their build-up play and when Gallagher was tackled inside the box the ball broke to Rendell, eight yards out, and he stroked a shot past Farman.

Yet for the second week in a row, The Shots were denied by an injury-time goal. In the seventh minute of six added on, and with Idris Kanu down with cramp, City launched a high ball into the box and eventually the pressure told with Rhead hooking in a late late equaliser.
