Our u18s were away at the Artic Stadium as they progressed to the second round of the FA Youth Cup against Cray Valley u18s in a 1-0 win.
After four minutes an early free kick for Cray Valley was hit into the wall, they claimed for handball but the ref gave a corner.
After a tight first 20 minutes Cray Valley put a volley wide of the goal. They started to put on some pressure and Davey made a great tackle to prevent a 1 on 1 situation.
Towards the end of the first half Aldershot Town grew into the game. Evans broke past multiple Cray Valley players but was tackled before he could get his shot away. This was followed by a free kick taken by Barrell which Ogbebor put over the bar.
After 40 minutes Aldershot Town found the breakthrough as Toms played a beautiful chipped through ball to Evans as he beat the offside trap and slotted it to the keepers right.
Just before half time there was a yellow card for Bolton for obstructing a free kick.
There was 3 mins added on and we went into half time 1-0 up.
Aldershot Town started well as they carried on there momentum. Limb managed to beat the offside trap but Evans put his shot over the bar. Moments later Bolton fired wide of the post from long range.
After 60 minutes Evans produced a great cross to Limb but his shot went over the bar. Play was quickly cleared by Cray Valley who broke away and appealed for a penalty, but the referee was uninterested. The game continued to be end to end as Limb’s cross found Bolton who forced a great save by the keeper.
After 68 minutes we made our first sub as Stephens-Truman replaced Davey. Minutes later we made our second sub as Judd replaced Limb.
With 20 minutes to go Stephens-Truman headed in a cross by Evans but the linesman flagged for offside.
After 75 minutes Evans was unable to continue and was replaced by hurst. Moments later Stephens-Truman fires a shot straight at the keeper.
There was 5 minutes added on at the end of the half before the ref blew for full time and Aldershot Town u18’s beat Cray Valley u18’s 1-0 to progress to the next round of the FA Youth Cup at the Artic Stadium.
